Be there!
“Every Coach needs a Coach.” That is what Pranesh Anandlal my Coach and Trainer, once said. Indeed, for any Coach to be authentic, he/she needs a Coach. This is one of the most interesting aspects about growing as a Coach. In fact, it is almost impossible to grow as a Coach if you do not have a Coach. Actually, everyone at some point in their lives needs a Coach.
And you do not have to have one Coach. Depending on your need at the time, you can get a relevant Coach, as and when you wish to make improvements, in certain areas of your life.
So regularly, I check in with my Coaches. And recently as I reflected on the space where my life is, and the results that I was getting. I quickly realized that I was ‘scattered.’ In the beginning I couldn’t place my finger on what was the cause for this.
So I made time to check in with one of my Coaches. He said, something powerful to me,“Where-ever you are, be there!”
In that moment, I realized what my challenge has been… I was not being there, wherever I was! Sometimes this can present as work/life balance challenges.
When I made the effort to Be There, wherever I am, there was an immediate shift in my energy levels and mental focus. I started noticing better results than I had been getting before. It is amazing, how making a small change in one’s focus, such as being present, can make a huge difference in the results one is getting.
So my mantra has now become: Be there, Wherever you are!
So I now literally practice to be there – being present wherever I am. No matter whether I am involved in a mundane chore, or working on a business strategy or engaging with a client, or simply driving, I make it a point to Be There!
In a world that demands attention from many quarters, this is a useful practice that one requires to survive and navigate the pressures of life . Today’s world has numerous demands on our attention. VUCA is a term that has been coined for the way our world has become. It stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Hence the practice of ‘Being There, wherever you are’ becomes quite a useful skill to practice on a daily basis.
In fact, one can realize that ‘Being There’ leads to, effective time management, let alone achieving the desired results in one’s life.
So my question is: “when was the last time you watched the sun rise or sun set, gazed the stars at night, or simply sat in solitude to appreciate yourself, or even enjoy someone’s company without looking at the phone every 15 seconds”?
Try out the practice of just focusing on the present moment. Making it a habit. Like my Coach would say, “Wherever you are, Be There!”
Powerful message....it also goes well with what I heard elsewhere: "Bloom where you are"
