Who inspires you?

It was on Thursday 08 September 2022 at 8:05am that I received an email announcing the sudden passing of Pranesh Anandlal. My body went into shock and disbelief. I read the email at least 5 times just to be sure I was not dreaming.

The reason for my unbelief is that Pranesh had sent me an email invite for the monthly webinar he hosts under Yelusa Coaching Academy. This is one of the various platforms where as Coaches we gather to discuss about the trends of our growing profession. This particular webinar was scheduled for 19th September 2022.

The email that conveyed the news of Pranesh’s passing was from COMENSA for another Webinar, where Pranesh would be the main speaker on the topic: ‘The Future of Coaching.’ This webinar was scheduled for 22 September 2022. The email was sent to inform us that the event was being cancelled due to the untimely passing of Pranesh.

I would have inter-acted with Pranesh, at least twice this month, during those Webinars besides the email and telephonic conversations we would have held in-between. Our previous conversation was around my credentialing process with ICF – something that he always encouraged us growing Coaches to achieve in our Coaching Practice.

I recall the very first phone call I had with him in August 2020 when I enrolled for the Coaching Programme, where he was the Trainer. He was always warm, re-assuring, encouraging and supportive from that time and throughout the training programme. He reached out to me when my Mum passed and later when I was hospitalized in January 2021. He cared.

Pranesh inspired me to be a good Coach and pursue being a Master Coach. In his words, he always said with a smile, “you should always Coach for results!”

The future of Coaching will not be the same without you, Pranesh.

The passing of Pranesh has made me reflect once more on the kind of impact people make in our lives. I have asked myself:  “Who inspires me… to be a better person?” And on the flip side, ‘who do I inspire to be a better person?’

“You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with,” is a quote attributed to Jim Rohn – a well-known motivational speaker. Pranesh is the type of person anyone would want to have as one of five people to spend most time with. He inspired me to be a better person and the type of Coach I am today.

I am sure there are many others that he has inspired and served diligently who would have lots of wonderful things to say about him. Pranesh continually inspired me in many ways, especially when the COVID-19 era left many of us anxious and uncertain about the future. He believed in me and helped me to have hope, and keep going to get better at what I do as a Coach.

Who do you have in your life cheering you to keep going and doing better?
Who inspires you?
