What Fruit…?

Earlier this weekend I was listening to a Speaker who was explaining an important aspect of our lives - the type of Fruit our lives manifest.

In his speech, he challenged the listeners to realize that the Fruit we produce and see in our lives is a consequence of the seed we plant in our lives.

He posed a question. “What Fruit do you want your life to produce?”

He further highlighted, saying: when you look back at your life, you can see what type of Fruit your life has been producing.

The thought that crossed my mind was, if I am happy with the Fruit that my life has produced, then well and good. But what if one is unsatisfied with the type of Fruit that one’s life has been producing, what then?

Perhaps the question to ask is; What Fruit does one want to produce in one’s life?  This speaks to the vision that one holds for their individual life.

A follow-up question could be: “How does one produce a desired Fruit in one’s life that is praise-worthy?”

The more direct question is: What kind of Fruit is your life producing?

I think it is important to reflect regularly on this direct question. If we look at how our communities and institutions are led, one could realise that we require individuals at every level of leadership to be reflective and purposeful.

More crucially I subscribe to the notion that leadership starts with self, not when one holds a position.

This post is not about leadership.

It is more about the understanding by the individual to be conscious about What Fruit their life is producing.

Two years ago humanity faced the devastation of a disease that took millions of lives, COVID-19. Many individuals are still reeling from the shock and trauma of the disease.

Those who survived this deadly pandemic have had a second chance at life. It was a chance for many to reflect on their lives and the impact their lives have had on humanity. Going forward the question could be for you: What Fruit do I want my life to produce? What Fruit…?

  1. Indeed life now is as a result of choice yesterday. We are products of our choices. We can change our undesirable fruits by modifying our seeds the choices. Thank you for sharing with us and reminding us of our ability.
