Which Road?

A very happy new to you all dear readers and followers of my Blog posts. 

It is always a pleasure to share reflections on insights that I pick up on this life’s journey. I believe we are called to do better, be better and have better. It is what we were created for. And as a human species on earth, we have been endowed with special abilities like no other on earth.  My blog is entitled #YourBetterSelf for that very reason.

At the beginning of each new year, many people make effort to set new goals or revise the ones from the year before. This depends on their personal circumstances. I have learnt that there are also creative ways this can be done, so as to stay on track, in being effective. But that will be a story for another day. 

For this post, I was struck by the parallel depth of a story I have always heard around the Christmas season. It is the story of the three wise men who embarked on a journey to seek for the new born king, that they could pay him homage. On the way to find the baby, they met a rather jealous king called Herod. 

Herod was insecure about his position when he had heard that there was a new born king, who could potentially take the throne from him. He wanted to find this baby and do away with him. Unknowingly, the wise men shared with him the purpose of their journey because the road led through his territory. So Herod asked them to visit him on their return after they had found the baby. He also wanted to find the baby and deal with him. But the Wise men were warned in a dream not to go back, via the same road. 

And here is the lesson I learned from this story: I have crossed to 2024. I have travelled via a road that brought me here. As I go through 2024, do I have to go the same way I traveled to get here?  Which road should I follow in 2024? A new one, or a familiar one?

When I look back, I have asked myself, "What was my experience of the road that has led me here? What are the things I should let go that did not serve me? What are the things I must continue doing in 2024 that will help become a better version of myself? Which road should I follow, the one that brought me here, or go via another way? "

As 2024 gradually gets underway, every individual has the duty and privilege of answering the question relating to Which Road they will travel in 2024. 

Steven Aitchson advises: We all have our personal roads to travel. It is only when we follow someone’s else’ road that we deviate from our own journey. Be strong and travel your own road. 

I hope that you will gain courage to travel your own road during 2024 towards your dreams, goals and desires. 

And remember that for each day in 2024, you will be given the chance to choose Which Road you should take to reach your destination.

Let's do this!

  Today, 01 July marks the beginning of the second half of the year 2021. What a tumultuous first half of the year that many of us have experienced. In some cases, the traces of pain are still existing. We have witnessed, or heard of, families that have lost their loved ones in a matter of hours or within days and weeks.
